Speech II

SPEECH 2/3/4     Grade level: 10-12             Credit: 1               

Prerequisite: Speech 1

Students will expand upon skills learned in Speech through a variety of speech activities, which will include but not be limited to mock legislature, speechwriting, storytelling, interpretation of literature, and debate. The history and analysis of American film is also a major unit in the course.  Additionally, students will learn basic video camera techniques and create short films.  Film emphasis will rotate yearly between an overview of great American film (odd years) and the production of films (even years).  Students will be given the opportunity to compete at the KESDA Forum, the Rotary Speech Contest, and in other contests.  The class may be retaken as Speech 3 and 4.
